Ms Irina McConnell joined the English Department at Wellington Bangkok in August 2025. Ms McConnell graduated with a BA degree in English Literature from Lancaster University and went on to complete her PGCE with The University of Manchester. In 2020, she completed an MA in English with a pathway in Gothic Studies. Wellington Bangkok is Ms McConnell's first international school after working in a number of independent and grammar schools across Manchester, including The Manchester Grammar School. Ms McConnell has taught GCSE Literature, GCSE Language, and A Level Literature. She is passionate about the world of literature and the power of reading. ‘Literature allows us to connect. Through reading, we gain insight and knowledge into parts of humanity that we may never experience ourselves. I wholeheartedly believe in Literature’s ability to form empathetic, compassionate, inclusive human beings and strive to encourage this within my classroom. I am extremely excited to be continuing my international teaching journey at Wellington Bangkok.’
