Ms Marie Monro trained as a teacher at Brunel University in 2005 after finishing a Psychology Degree at Kent University. Having taught in London for two years, she moved to Shanghai to work in the British International School where she took on the role of Assistant Head leading Key Stage 1. Ms Monro left Shanghai after six years to return to Europe where she taught at St. Julian’s School in Portugal for four years, teaching in Nursery and with the Student Support Department. She then joined the British School in Guangzhou, China, to lead the Reception year group.  As a teacher Ms Monro believes that it is especially important to provide opportunities for children to be curious, ask questions, try out new ideas and develop skills such as enquiry, communication and teamwork. Ms Monro is excited to work in the Year 1 team and to continue to foster curiosity, independence and teamwork in her students. She is very much looking forward to welcoming your child to Year 1, getting to know them and your family. "The world we now live in is changing at an incredibly fast pace and we do not know what the future will look like. We therefore need to ensure that, as educators, our students are confident, flexible and able to adapt to change – with these skills they will be better equipped to be happy and successful in their life during and after school."
