Ms Chantelle Matthews joined Wellington Bangkok in 2019 and had the privilege of being the very first teacher for many of our youngest Wellingtonians. She holds a degree in Primary Education from Birmingham City University, graduating in 2010. Since then, she has taught children aged 2 to 7 in both England and Thailand, bringing with her over 15 years of experience in Early Years education. As Head of Pre-Nursery, Ms Chantelle places great importance on building strong, positive relationships with both the children and their families. She understands that creating a nurturing and supportive community is key to helping our youngest learners feel safe, confident, and ready to thrive. An advocate for holistic education, Ms Chantelle supports not only her students’ intellectual development but also their physical, social, and emotional growth. She believes these foundations are essential for nurturing lifelong learners who are kind, confident, independent and resilient. “I work to inspire and encourage students to strive for greatness, reach their full potential, and see the best in themselves,” she says. “At Wellington, I aim to instil a ‘can do’ attitude in even the youngest of learners to promote positive self-confidence and self-worth.” This year, she is excited to take on the role of Assistant Head of Early Years whilst continuing her role as a Pre-Nursery class teacher. Ms Chantelle is very much looking forward to welcoming her 6th Pre-Nursery class to Wellington Bangkok and beginning a year of learning, growth, and discovery.
